Grandmaster Bent Larsen, Denmark's best chess player ever, will be honoured with several events during 2010. The Danish Chess Union invites a number of chess stars to Denmark to mark Bent Larsen 75 years birthday on 4th of March.    
    Bent Larsen became grandmaster in 1956 at the age of 21 in the Red Army Theater in Moscow. He reached the semifinals in the Candidates Matches in 1965, 1968 and 1971. In 1967 he was elected to the best chess player for an unprecedented winning streak.
    The first celebration event takes place from 2-5. August in Politiken Cup at Lo-Skolen in Elsinore, where Russia's second-best chess player Peter Svidler and Denmark's best Peter Heine Nielsen will meet in a rapidmatch (six games) and two blitzmatches – both 10 games.
    Peter Svidler was runner up at the World Championships in 2005 and has since been among the very best in the world. Currently holds 33-year-old Svidler 10th place at the FIDE ranking list. Peter Heine Nielsen is best known for being second of the Indian world champion Viswanathan Anand. The 36-year-old Dane is is No. 37 on the latest world ranking.
    In October organizes the Danish Chess Union a grandmaster tournament in Køge – 40 kilometers from Copenhagen. This tournament is also dedicated Bent Larsen.

Peter Svidler is one of the strongest chessplayers in the world, and has been so for a number of years, at the moment his ELO is 2746, placing him as no 10 on the Fide world rank list

He was born in Leninggrad, Russia on the 16th of Juli 1976. He started playing chess at the age of 6 and became a GM in 1994 at the age of 18.
In 1992 he tied for the firstplace in the Russian Youth Championship.  

He is a five time Russian Champion, he won the title in  1994, 1995,1997,2003 og 2008, last year he finished second.

Svidler has been playing on the Russian Olympic team for many years, the Russian team won gold medals in 1994,1996,1998 og 2000.

Peter Svidler also done well in the battle for the World Championship, most noticable result, is the shared second place in the world Championship tournament  in San Luis. As most chess fans will remember, Toplaov won this tournament and became the 15th world Champion.

Svidler is married and has two children, he is expected to bring his family with him to Denmark.

Peter Heine Nielsen

Peter Heine Nielsen is born on the 24th of  may 1973 i the danish city Holstebro.
Peter Heine has been the strongest chessplayer in Denmark for a number of years, in scandinavia he is only surpassed by the Norweigen world no 1 Magnus Carlsen.

Heine has been working as a trainer and sparring partner for both Carlsen and the current world champion, Viswanathan Anand.

First time Peter Heine made notice of him self was in 1990, that year he finished third in the, under 18 youth world championship, winner was former world champion Vladimir Kramnik, and former Politiken Cup winner Sergej Tiviakov finished second.

I 1991 Heine finished second at the Danish Championship, after beating Bent Larsen during the tournament, he is a 5 time Danish Champion (1996, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2008).

Among Peter Heine's many fine results are:
